Join Nichole Accettola, author of Scandinavian from Scratch: A Love Letter to the Baking of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, in a virtual class exploring two different celebratory buns traditionally eaten on Fat Tuesday: Denmark’s fastelavnsboller and Sweden’s semlor.
Nichole will discuss and demonstrate her approaches to two different doughs, fillings, and toppings for these midwinter treats, sending students home with two recipes to tackle. $25 ($20 ASI member)

Students will follow step-by-step instructions to transform hand-dyed wool from the instructor’s own sheep into a felted Easter egg, complete with springy decorations.

Build tapestry skills with rya techniques in this multiweek virtual class.
Students with previous geometric tapestry experience will practice weaving a twosided rya design, with the same pattern on both sides. Expect some homework between classes to finish the approximately 10” square piece in five weeks.

Join Swedish textile artist and educator Kerstin to tackle more advanced weaving styles on a Scandinavian-style rigid heddle band weaving loom.
Using their own band-weaving looms and materials, students will further develop skills in pick-up band patterns and discuss other advanced ways to use their looms during two online sessions.

In Shadow Piece(s): Chance-Based Responses in Clay, seven ceramic artists—Maggie Adams, Alexis C. Brunkow, E.C. Comstock, Tomo Ingalls, Vanessa Romo, Jennifer Schumacher Waller, and Kurt Tomerlin—respond to a single set of written instructions: Shadow Piece (1963) by Japanese Fluxus artist Meiko Shiomi. Originally conceived as a poetic performance score, Shadow Piece invites a meditation on the presence and movement of shadow in space and time.
