Ilan-Lael Foundation
The Ilan-Lael Foundation, founded by James and Anne Hubbell in 1983, has pioneered hands-on building, community art, apprenticeships, and international projects with the goal to further art education for over 40 years. The Ilan-Lael Foundation cultivates creativity, fosters connections with nature, and inspires art diplomacy which enriches lives and shapes a more harmonious future.
The Foundation cares for Hubbell’s life’s work and furthers his belief that art creates positive changes in the world. A major focus of its programs is to provide San Diego students of all backgrounds with access to enriching art experiences. The Foundation partners with various organizations and secures grants to bring art programs to youth across the region, particularly focusing on those in marginalized and underserved rural communities. The Foundation’s many programs also provide local artisans, many of whom have trained in Hubbell Studios, with the opportunity to create and educate the next generation of creative minds.
