Yellow Pincushion with pins and thread. American Swedish Institute

Join Duluth-based textile artist Kirsten Aune for a few hours of practicing decorative hand stitching on hand printed fabrics.

Students will experiment with the interplay of printed fabric and thread as they work on Kirsten’s colorful, Scandi-inspired textiles and practice five stitches. Depending on past hand sewing experience, students will complete a pin cushion, small pouch, or both.

Suitable for ages 16+. $65 ($55 ASI member) + $25 materials fee payable to instructor.

Equinox wreath made with dried flowers. American Swedish Institute

Celebrate the cycles of seasons and the emergence of spring in this Equinox wreath workshop with farmer-florist Elle Sullivan of Mellifera Flowers.

Using dried flowers and foraged elements reflective of our Northwoods ecosystems, students will build handtied wreaths using Elle’s well-tested tips and tricks. Students will finish the workshop with a completed wreath made on a 10″ base.

Suitable for ages 18+. $65 ($55 ASI member) + $45 materials fee payable to instructor.

The Hunterdon Art Museum and the Red Mill Museum Village are proud to announce the Peace Flag Project: a fiber chain of hundreds of community-made flags displayed along the banks of the Raritan River and pedestrian bridge, symbolically linking the two museums in a landmark celebration of peace, unity and creativity.

By inviting the public to contribute to this crowd-sourced project, the role of shared making in fostering connection and belonging is emphasized.
