Curator Lecture: Mary Trent on The Paper Craft of Henry Darger

Learn how traditional American paper crafts, including paper dolls and paper dollhouse scrapbooks, may have influenced Henry Darger’s evolution as an artist and maker.

Guest curator Dr. Mary Trent will discuss how Darger transformed these humble domestic pastimes into sophisticated, mixed-media narratives, using picture frames, doors, and windows as unexpected openings that celebrate the power of imagination and offer delightfully disobedient escapes from middle-class norms and ideals.
