Moena Wāwae: Mat Weaving Retreat with Keanahala at Kīkila, Lāʻie

Keanahala will be gathering at Kikila, Lāʻie to continue ulana moena, the practice of weaving lauhala mats.

Keanahala honors the process from ʻāina to moena (from the land to the mat), teaching students how to care for pūhala (pandanus) and gather, harvest, clean, and prepare lau (leaves) for weaving.

We will spend two days together at Kikila weaving personal moena wāwae (simple floor mats). These mats set the foundation for a deeper relationship with Hawaiʻi and those who call Hawaiʻi home.
