Materials to Masterpiece invites visitors to explore the journey of traditional craft, from humble raw materials to refined works of art.

The exhibition reveals the transformation of natural resources by the hands of master craftsmen. Unfinished pieces will be featured alongside finished work to illuminate the process, skill, artistry, and vision behind each creation.

The League will showcase collaborations with traditional craft education programs in New Hampshire as a part of this exhibition.

A jury session is a formal and rigorous evaluation for membership with the League of NH Craftsmen. League jurors not only demonstrate technical expertise but exemplify the “Spirit of the Maker” through their work, and serve as ambassadors for this historic organization.

Setting the Standard is a recurring exhibition featuring work from the League’s jurors. Masters in their respective media categories, these craftsmen represent the high standards of the organization in the work they produce.

Art Workshops in a Classic New England Setting

North Country Studio Workshops offers five-day intensive workshops for artists and craftspeople in an atmosphere of discovery, energy, collaboration, and inspiration.

Clay, fiber arts, printmaking, drawing, jewelry, paper and book arts, painting, sculpture, basketry, encaustic, mixed media, and photography are taught by nationally and internationally-known artists and instructors.

Nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains of Vermont, the classic New England campus of Bennington College provides workshop facilities, accommodations, and an inspirational setting.

The mission of the League of NH Craftsmen is to advance, cultivate and champion excellence in fine craft. The League supports the cultivation of craftsmen and communities to engage with and appreciate fine art and craft and its significance as a cornerstone of NH’s culture.

The League was established in 1932 with support from the state of New Hampshire, the first state in the union to support crafts. The following year, the first Craftsmen’s Fair was held—now the oldest continuously operating outdoor craft fair in the country—and it has grown to draw over 20,000 people annually.

Throughout its 90+ year history, the League has helped craftspeople sell their work, hone their skills, and educate future generations. Today, over 700 juried craftspeople produce exceptional contemporary and traditional craft in a range of media, from baskets and pottery to printmaking and wood, from jewelry and handblown glass to photography and sculpture.
