The Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts is a dynamic nexus for artists who create with clay, offering time, space, and deep creative connection. Since 1986, Watershed has championed artists at every career stage through internationally recognized residencies that prioritize community, collaboration, and artistic exploration. On our rural Maine campus, artists work side-by-side in an open-concept studio, forging lasting bonds and pushing the boundaries of their practice in dialogue with one another and with the surrounding coastal landscape.

Our peer-to-peer, artist-organized residency model creates an environment where complicated ideas are valued, innovation is championed, and creative vision expands. Beyond residencies, Watershed enriches the broader community through professional development workshops for K–12 educators, public programs and artist talks, ceramic exhibitions in our Edgecomb gallery, and the beloved annual Salad Days festival. Wayne Art Center is excited to announce the 30th anniversary of CraftForms, the International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Fine Craft.

Located in the Davenport Gallery, the exhibition features work created by 102 artists from 31 states and four countries, including Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Switzerland.

Works include basketry, ceramics, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art, wood and 3D printing.

Tennessee Craft 2025 Member Exhibition highlights and promotes the excellence and high standards of Tennessee Craft member artists and provides public visibility and recognition for the quality and diversity of craft found in Tennessee.

Curated by the American-Scandinavian Foundation, this traveling exhibition features stunning works by 24 artists from the Upper Midwest.

Highlighting innovations to and variations on traditions, this exhibit presents artists’ works as living, malleable forms grounded in traditional skills rather than as static objects rooted in the imagined past.  The exhibition challenges the dominant “heritage model” of ethnic folklore by emphasizing that “all tradition is change.”

Many ideas have been fired up at Pittsburgh Glass Center since the Idea Furnace program started in 2012. Nearly 60 artists have participated in this experimental design program that connects non-glass artists with glass artists and encourages exploration in other art forms. The exhibition showcases the work of 6 artists of other mediums who were inspired by glass.

I Am Clay is the first exhibition to focus on figurative pottery from Acoma Pueblo.

The community-curated show examines historic Puebloan precursors to figuration in clay, and considers how tourism during the early 20th century helped shape the development of this practice.

Over 120 objects will narrate the story of the Acoma women artists at the heart of this tradition.

I Am Clay travels to Haak’u Museum at Acoma Pueblo in February 2027.

The mission of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is to welcome all to celebrate the American spirit in a setting that unites the power of art with the beauty of nature. Founded by philanthropist and arts patron Alice Walton, Crystal Bridges is a public non-profit charitable organization. The museum opened on November 11, 2011, and welcomes all with free admission.

Crystal Bridges takes its name from a nearby natural spring and the bridge construction incorporated in the building, designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie. A series of pavilions nestled around two spring-fed ponds house galleries, meeting and classroom spaces, and a large, glass-enclosed gathering hall. Guest amenities include a restaurant (Eleven) and Coffee Bar on a glass-enclosed bridge overlooking the ponds, a Museum Store designed by architect Marlon Blackwell, and a library featuring more than 50,000 volumes of art reference material. Five miles of sculpture and walking trails link the museum’s 134-acre park to downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. In 2023, the museum welcomed nearly 785,000 visitors.

Five decades ago, the most influential craft exhibition ever staged, OBJECTS: USA, toured America. New York-based gallery R & Company revived the exhibition in 2020 and 2024, ultimately resulting in a traveling version that pairs work by artists from the original exhibition with those of contemporary makers.

America has changed a great deal over the past fifty years, yet the creative capacities of individual makers remain one of America’s most inspiring cultural wellsprings.

The Smithsonian Women’s Committee is an all-volunteer auxiliary organization within the Smithsonian Institution.  To fulfill its mission of supporting the Smithsonian, the Committee produces the spring Smithsonian Craft Show as well as Craft2Wear, a fall show.

The Craft Show is a premier showcase for the finest American hand-crafted contemporary craft and design. Held in Washington, DC, annually, the Craft Show features a show and sale of works by 120 superb craft artists who are selected by independent jurors.  Also at the Craft Show, the Smithsonian presents its Visionary Award to a craft artist who is at the pinnacle of his or her medium.

The Craft2Wear show provides collectors and casual shoppers the opportunity to acquire unique and interesting wearables created by outstanding craft artists. Proceeds from both shows are used to fund grants to the Smithsonian for its museums, research centers, and the National Zoo.

Known for her meditative approach and deep reverence for nature’s cycles of growth and renewal, Ballard’s work explores the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world.

This exhibition celebrates a lifetime devoted to observing life’s quiet metamorphoses and translating them into sculptural poetry in clay.
