Suitable for ages 18+. This workshop is suitable for both newer and more advanced spoon carvers who already have a stash of spoon projects in process. $130 ($115 ASI member) + $15 materials fee payable to instructor.

This beginner-level course will introduce students to the tradition of Scandinavian-style flat plane carving, including basic knife grips and carving techniques.

Students will make a sweet wooden heart decoration, perfect for display, gifting or even making a statement necklace.

Open to ages 16+, or ages 11–15 alongside a registered adult. All skill levels welcome. $70 ($60 ASI member) + $10 materials fee payable to instructor.

Ready to dive into Scandinavian-style wood carving? If you hope someday to carve spoons, bowls, and other practical items using “green” or fresh wood using traditional hand tools, this is the right place to start.

Students will complete several simple projects, such as hooks or spatulas while being introduced to foundational tools and techniques.

Kolrosing is the art of incising a wooden surface, revealing the pattern with pigment, and burnishing the cuts to create a smooth, durable decoration.

In this six-week course, students will learn the basics of design, materials, and techniques for kolrosing flat and curved woodenware. The final weeks are devoted to starting with lettering and curves.

Ages 13+. Previous woodworking experience is helpful but not necessary. $195 ($175 ASI member) + $60 materials fee payable to instructor.
