Ready to dive into Scandinavian-style wood carving? If you hope someday to carve spoons, bowls, and other practical items using “green” or fresh wood using traditional hand tools, this is the right place to start.

Kolrosing is the art of incising a wooden surface, revealing the pattern with pigment, and burnishing the cuts to create a smooth, durable decoration.
In this six-week course, students will learn the basics of design, materials, and techniques for kolrosing flat and curved woodenware. The final weeks are devoted to starting with lettering and curves.
Ages 13+. Previous woodworking experience is helpful but not necessary. $195 ($175 ASI member) + $60 materials fee payable to instructor.
